Kailash Mansarovar Inner Parikrama 2024
Join our 13-day tour starting in Kathmandu or Lucknow. Tourists from Lucknow will be picked up in the morning for a 4-5 hour drive to Nepalgunj in an AC coach, while those arriving in Kathmandu will fly to Nepalgunj. Enjoy an extra night in Taklakot for acclimatization. Then, drive approximately 2 hours by AC Volvo to Mansarovar Lake to begin the 105 km Parikrama by bus. Take a dip and perform puja at the divine lake. After completing the Mansarovar Parikrama, proceed to Darchen, the base for Kailash Parikrama. The Kailash Inner Parikrama is renowned for its popularity and challenge among pilgrims.
YOUR ITINERARY (DAY WISE)
Day 1
Parvati Baag to Shrikhand Mahadev and back
Arrive in Kathmandu or Lucknow and check in to a 4-star hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2
Kathmandu / Lucknow to Nepalgunj
After breakfast, we’ll drive from Lucknow to Nepalgunj in an AC coach (4-5 hours). Those arriving in Kathmandu will fly to Nepalgunj. In the evening, there will be a Yatra briefing.
Overnight stay at Hotel Siddhartha or similar.
Day 3
Nepalgunj – Simikot- Hilsa – Purang
Early morning, head to the airport for a flight to Simikot. After resting for a few hours, take a helicopter to Hilsa. Wait for other travelers to join, then drive to Purang.
Overnight stay at Hotel Purang.
Flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot: 40–50 minutes; helicopter from Simikot to Hilsa: 20–25 minutes.
Day 4
Acclimatization at Purang
After reaching Purang, enjoy a free day to acclimatize and possibly take a short trek in preparation for Mount Kailash Parikrama.
Overnight stay at Hotel Purang.
Purang is a clean town with various shops offering items for the Yatra, such as trekking sticks, water gallons, and snacks. Don’t forget to bargain for a better deal while exploring and experiencing the local culture.
Day 5
Purang to Mansarovar Lake
Travel to Holy Mansarovar Lake by AC Volvo bus, a journey of about 2 hours. Upon arrival, complete the Parikrama of Mansarovar Lake (approximately 105 km), take a holy dip, and perform puja, praying for the world’s well-being. En route, catch your first glimpse of the majestic Kailash Parvat—an overwhelming sight next to the lake.
Overnight stay at a guest house near Lake Mansarovar. If weather allows, you can also visit the lake at night or during early morning (Brahm Muhurt) to experience its divine tranquility.
Day 6
Mansarovar to Darchen
After breakfast near Lake Mansarovar, we’ll head to Darchen, the base for Kailash Parikrama. The evening is free for leisure, allowing you to prepare and rest before the trek.
Day 7
First Day Outer Parikrama of Mount Kailash
After breakfast, we’ll proceed to Yamdwar and trek 10 km to Dirapuk, where you’ll be blessed with the darshan of the North Face of Mount Kailash, considered highly auspicious. If available, ponies can be hired for the outer Parikrama trek to help prepare for the inner trek.
Day 8
Second Day Outer Parikrama of Mount Kailash
On the second day, we’ll trek to the Charansparsh of Mount Kailash, a 5-7 km journey taking about 3-5 hours. This offers a closer view of the North Face. After returning, the remainder of the day will be for rest, preparing for the next 22-km trek.
Day 9
Third Day Outer Parikrama of Mount Kailash
Early in the morning, we’ll start the 22 km trek from Dirapuk to Dolma La Pass, reaching an altitude of 18,600 feet. This segment is considered the most challenging part of the Outer Parikrama Route. The first 6-7 km to Dolma La Pass has a steep climb; all yatris are advised to take their time and rest as needed. After Dolma La, the trek descends to Gauri Kund and continues along the Karnali River to Zuthulpuk, where we’ll stay overnight in a lodge or guest house.
Important: During this trek, we’ll pass through Shivasthal—a sacred site believed to grant heavenly wishes—and Gauri Kund. After Dolma Pass, the trail offers a pleasant trek alongside the river, with views of the east face of Mount Kailash.
Day 10
Drive to Darchen
After a short trek, you will reach Darchen, where we’ll stay overnight.
Day 11
Drive to Purang
After breakfast, we will drive to Purang for an overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 12
Hilsa – Nepalgunj – Kathmandu / Lucknow
Drive to Hilsa by AC luxury vehicle, then fly back to Simikot by helicopter, followed by a flight to Nepalgunj. From there, proceed to Lucknow by road or fly to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel.
Day 13
Kathmandu / Lucknow departure
After breakfast, you are free to proceed to your home destination with the blessings of Lord Shiva! Itineraries are subject to change or modification due to unavoidable circumstances.
